ARTIST’S STATEMENT

"As I layer, construct and deconstruct; relentlessly cycling through this process, my work is about uncovering and deepening my awareness of past events in my life all the while building strength to endure. I use both digital and analog techniques and methods. Textures are often cut and stitched, propagating recurrent, reformed markings between original works. This work explores the path to strength and often is represented by the construction and deconstruction of fragile elements that
“heal” through this process."

Scott lives and works in Kansas City. He received a BFA from Ball State University, and by day has worked for and with various global companies to build digital experiences, teams and organizations. Runkel has exhibited work at institutions
such as The New York Design Center (NYC), Swan Coach House Gallery and The Unity Project (Atlanta) and his work is in several private collections. His recent collection “Butterfly Hope” is available at chairish.com and scottrunkel.co
